Stupid Things That Carleton Is Known For
Well, course registration time is here once again and everybody is rushing to call in and get the courses they want. Now, logically one would expect an university to be managed more or less like a business with a preference for profit. But that is not the case at Carleton or the School of Business (funny how they can even call themselves a School of Business). It seems that Administration likes to go out of their way to piss off students any way possible. In a business sense, students = customers = $$$. The more students enroll at Carleton means more $$$ and more $$$ grants from the provincial government. However, irate and pissed off students means less enrollment due to previous students warning new students about Carleton's crappiness or present students switching to other universities = less $$$. Usually a university would want their fourth year or near graduating students to leave with a good impression and fond memories of their university rather than pissing them off and cursing at the very mention of their alma mater. Well, at Carleton fourth year students register at the last week of registration. This means that any lower level courses that they have to take would be filled by lower level students first. Not to mention those fourth year courses that are open to third and sometimes second year students. Therefore, every year; fourth year student often find themselves having to appeal for entry into courses that are full by the time they try to register for those courses. The last thing a fourth year student needs is to worry and fret about whether he/she would have to stay an extra semester just to complete the requirements to graduate. Speaking in a business sense, this is retarded. It is always good in the interest of the organization to keep the customer(students) happy and not to piss them off. AAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, done ranting and letting out steam.
: )

Lunch at Lapointe fish market was good, they have some awesome fish-based dishes. Denis, Aaron, Jon and I went down to the market to get some lunch and decided to try Lapointe. It does have a fishy smell - since they do sell fish there as well. Oh well.... t'was an 'aight day.

Faith?
The Force = Faith? (Empire Strikes Back: Luke couldn't use the Force to lift his X-wing fighter from the swamp because he didn't have faith in the Force?)

Today's sermon by pastor Dan was interesting and intriguing, it also coincided with sunday school as well. It is true how we as western christians are not as challenged in our faith as those in third world countries or christians in non-christian friendly countries. We are quite fortunate not to be experiencing autrocities from ruling governments that demand that christians renounce their religion and faith. So much so that we become comfortable or docile in our comfort zone and fail to notice when events happen that challenge our faith in God. Sunday school was the continuation of Bamboo in Winter. It talks about the persecution of christians in China and how their faith continues despite being put suppressed by the communist government. Such displays of faith really put to shame our own faith. Western christian faith tend to be like a smouldering fire that needs or is searching for new fuel to rekindle the flame again while those other christians are like a raging inferno of faith and hunger for God. We as christians should be eager and willing to embrace our faith and to serve and defend it. To paraphrase pastor Dan, "either you are a true christian or you're not, don't be a half-way christian (luke warm)". This is something thatneeds more exploring on.

The End of Another Summer
Summer is once again coming to an end...*sigh*
It's been a week since this blog has been updated. Didn't do much on monday. On tuesday, we went to Silvercity to watch Rush Hour 2. That movie was better than the first one with a few recycled jokes. It's amazing to hear a black guy speak pretty good cantonese, no it wasn't Chris Tucker. The joke lines were witty and it kept flowing one after another. Even though it was an english movie, it still retained the H.K./ Jackie Chan kind of slapstick comedy. The weather was pretty nice that day with the occasional storm clouds. On wednesday I drove my relatives to the airport and then I went to pick up my Dad and Em on the way back. I got cut off by a middle-aged driver from Quebec who came in from another lane that wasn't meant to turn left. To further irritate me, that driver decided to make a right turn at the next lights in a lane meant for traffic going straight. I just blasted him with my horn, everyone stared at that driver, serves him right. Quebec drivers shouldn't be allowed to drive in Ontario. They don't bother to find out where they want to go, they just wonder around, disregarding the traffic laws as well. Anyways, once I got back to Orleans, I went to Winners to get me some much needed pants(old ones have one too many holes). Em got herself a skirt and presents for her relatives.

Had dinner at Chu Sing with Em, Aaron, Jon, Sehar, Mary and Phuong. Sehar had recently came back to Ottawa from her summer job with Ernst and Young in Bahrain. So I took this opportunity to meet up with her and Mary and introducing them to my other friends. Haven't talked to Mary much either since I switched concentrations, she's like my older sister. : ) She's always there to give me advice when I need it.

Friday was Em's rush to pack her stuff and to clean up her relatives' house. Josh went over to help her clean her place up after we had dinner in the market. P.D. and family came over to my place for a visit. I told Em it was b/c of her tattle-tale on me for missing 2 weeks of service. She kinda believed it then she realized it didn't make sense : ). Later I went over and played N64 with Josh and Em till 1am. We were tired but it was fun, we played Mario Cart, Smash Bros and Tennis. I then drove Josh home, the OC Crapo doesn't offer late night service.

Saturday was "Tea With God" at Fellowship. We talked about authenticity in relationships and truth. Some people were "Hint-Droppers", "Guilt-Trippers", "Manipulators" and "Intimidators" with regards to a relationship and how they get things their way. I know of some people who fall into 2 of those categories. Later Edward organized a get together at Zoe's in the Chateau Laurier for a "fairwell" for Em although at some point it kinda became something else with regards to reconciliation. We took some pictures with those who weren't praying or councilling... The Dom, Josh, Em and I went up to the 5th floor of the hotel b/c it's supposed to be haunted... Wooo, I'm scared.....I see dead people : ) It was just dead quiet that's all, no supernatural beings were around i.e. Slimer from Ghostbusters. Didn't know the hotel had a clinic at the top of the seventh floor.

Sunday service was good, P.D. was talking about Faith and several points really related to me. We went to Man's Kitchen for lunch. Now M.K. is open seven days a week. : ) Although Allen isn't too happy (he works there). After lunch, it was blading time at the newly "discovered" path. It was Em, Lon, Yvonne, Andy, Roger and me. Mir and Euming drove us to Algonquin Lees Campus. Thanks guys! it was an hour of fun and working out. Andy did alright for his first time. Then me and Em caught the bus to St. Laurent to get Jon. Later Dom gave us a ride back to Orleans. Ben A. was there to drive Em back to TO after she had her shower (didn't want to stink up the car on the way back : ) ). Chris called me later and we went to Casey's with Jon to catch up on things that have been going on up till the summer. Haven't talked to them both much this year cuz I've been swamped with projects for school. It was good, along with good food and drinks. Passed out once I got home.

A new week has begun.......*urrrgh* School starting soon................ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Founding of a New Path
After Sunday Worship, we headed to New Mee Fung for lunch (It was Ben Cheung's idea). After that, Ben, Em and I went back to OCAC to change into our rollerblading attire and waited for Aaron to show up, apparently he forgot his church had a joint service so technically he sat in 3 services in one day. Next stop, McDs for Aaron to grab some lunch and it's off to the path at Hurdman Station. The path mostly smooth with some rough patches, it was great for coasting and power gliding along the asphalt. It was rather hot though, so after 2 hrs of blading we rested at Algonquin and Aaron went and got us some Gatorade, yep it's in us. Mir came later and we went for another hour of blading before we called it a day. Later, Aaron and I met up with Ben, Em, Dom, Gabriella, Joanne and Enid for some dessert or "siew ye" at Market Diner. There were buskers perfoming on the street next to the restaurant. After that we call it a night and everyone headed back for home.

A rather odd thought passed my mind on the way home. Normally under newtonian law of physics, smaller gravitational bodies tend to gravitate towards larger gravitational bodies. Wouldn't it be funny, weird or strange if larger gravitational bodies gravitate towards smaller gravitational bodies. In other words, a small planetoid with a big, round moon.

Well, back to work....Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Party Aftermath
The BBQ party at Em's went pretty well. There were only 8 people who showed up, but that's good. It's small and cozy. There was lots of food, we played N64 and watched dvds. Danny gave Aaron and I a ride home, = ) Didn't do much on Saturday, was going to Fellowship but no one had the key to the church so I didn't bother going since it was moved to Lon's place. I just stayed home and did more work on my user manual.

I was talking to a friend of mine, the other day, who just came back form an overseas summer job (really cool). Our conversation somehow gravitated to how some people would would be or act really contradicting in their intereactions with other people. In further discussion, we started to talk about how some people always put up fronts, or 'frontin' when they are around certain people to get those people to like them. We both agree that that was really sad and rather pathetic, people should be themselves rather than try to be something that they are not.

Well, gotta go catch some Zzzz, church tomorrow. Later, all you funky cats!

Da Weekend is Here Man, Time to Par-tay
While on the bus to work, I saw a Jaguar parked at the parking lot next to the gym. Occasionally you would find an expensive car at Carleton, but this Jaguar was special. How special you ask? It was so special that the suspension was jacked up at least 2 feet! The wheels were larger than normal, this makes the Jaguar look like a monster truck! Well, it does look like a monster truck! Anyhow, finally saw 10 Things I Hate About You; I don't know why people didn't want to go see the movie when it first came out at the cinemas. The movie was funny and rather "cute" or artistic with its forewarned adult/ crude content. Plot was rather shallow, but that wasn't the reason I wanted to watch the movie. I just needed to relax from work and chill with friends and have a good laugh. Oh and the meaning of the title for the movie came out towards the end of the movie and it made sense too.

Notice
Marijuana is now legal in Canada, but only through prescription. I'm not advocating the use of it, just making a general notice.

I came across this passage in 1 Corinthians while doing my devotions on Wednesday. This passage is great for those who want to know more about becoming more "Christ-like" or a better Christian, this is where Paul tells the church in Corinth about the most excellent way to desire greater gifts.

Love
And now I will show you the most excellent way.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of agels, but have not loved, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal...........
...........And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

I'm really impressed with Blessings' database, it encompasses all of Canada. The sales clerk asked Em if she was on the mailing list, she said yes but she was BC, not a problem, the sales clerk found all the info in a few seconds. Very impressive for a non-cult christian organization. Aaron, Em and I went grocery shopping after to get stuff for the BBQ on Friday. Em had to get her mandatory vegetables for the BBQ, her house, her rules. = ) We also got some steak and italian sausages. Aaron will get more stuff tomorrow as well as raid his house for any food. We unloaded the food at Em's and played a couple rounds of WWF and Mario Kart. Party tomorrow!!! Oh and Rush Hour 2 is out, gonna go see it on Tuesday. Wow, finally I can watch a movie on cheap night! Yay!
A'ight... that's all for now!
L8ter!

Shabba Kim A.K.in the house
Boring day at work. Did some studying for my final later tonight. AK is coming into town today for a couple of hours before flying to Europe for his vacation. I really wished I could have met up with him, but I didn't know where he sould be before the dinner and I wouldn't have been able to be back for the final on time. Have a fun time in Europe AK! It's been a year since I last saw him. Boy! Was the final ever long, not many people left early. Three hours of straight writing, my hands were shaking at the end. Went home right after and crashed........ have to get up soon......... work
g'nite y'all

It's raining again..............
Woke up on Monday and it was raining. To make matters worse, my brother decided to tie up the toilet and I missed my bus for work. So I was standing in the rain, with my umbrella of course, and my new shoes were getting wet. = ( By the time I got to Hurdman, I noticed that it didn't rain there. I was not a happy camper. Anyways, I did some work on the user manual for the website and lounged around a bit at work until Aaron came by. We left Carleton and met up with Em on the way home. She invited us to dinner at her place, free food. = ) Thanks Em! And no, no one died from the food. Dom came over for dinner too, after he was done with his midterm. Did some studying before heading home. *sigh* Final tomorrow.
