Happy New Year everyone!!!!!!!!
Had a pretty good two week break of no studying. I passed my CSC exam!!! Yay!!! Now I have to decide if I should continue with my CFP course/ switch to the night class (if possible) or just drop it and continue on my own time. So many decisions... Well, it's a new year so time for new tactics and strategies ; )
P.D.'s sermon today helped me to clarify and to renew my strength and trust in the Lord. As disciples of Christ and believers of God, we have to 'love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' Mark 12:30 Often, our focus in Christianity start to drift from the main point. Things start to become a routine; go to church, sit in pew, open mouth and "sing" praises/ or for some just stand there until the singing is done. 'The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.' Isaiah 29:13 Our focus and worship should always be on one great big thing/ person: and that's GOD, because he is THE Creator of all things. Worship is not a ritual, it is a relationship (1-on-1). This is your walk with Him, your daily conversation(s) with Him each and everyday (if possible). God has to come first among all things as He is the creator of all. 'If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters--yes, even his own life--he cannot be my disciple.' Luke 14:26
Obviously He doesn't want you to hate everyone around you, He just wants our focus to be on Him first and the rest are secondary. Here's a simple test to see if your focus is on God or on other things:
Test:
What do I talk about the most?
What do I invest most of my time into?
What do I spend most of my money on?
What do I think about and plan for the most?
Like most christians, God would not even be mentioned in any of the questions up above. We need to treasure God more than our lives; for being obedient to God is an act of worship. And lastly, we have to trust God - because He will never fail you (trust more in Him and less in your own self). 'Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.' Proverbs 3:5-6 He is our provider and He knows how you feel and wants to help you. He will never leave us and He never changes. 'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.' Hebrews 13:8 So where is your focus? Here's two questions that you can ask yourself in determining where you are;
1) What do you treasure the most in your life?
2) Who are you trusting in your life?
On another note, I got an email from my aunt in Singapore. She finally accepted Christ and was baptised at night on New Year's Eve. That's is so cool. Almost everyone on my dad's side of the family have come to know the Lord. Today is Keith's first holy communion. He commented that the wafer element was bland. Heh heh, what else would you expect? Chocolate flavoured? BBQ? Ranch? ;P
